Ink-jet prints on Alucobond 160 x 240 cm, mounted behind showcase windows, Dresden, 2003
Large format photos were put up directly at the place where they were taken. The quiet, deserted motifs reflect the void and abandonment of the photographed places in the Prager street. The pictures show architectural details, reflections and empty rooms. The installation directs the eye and creates a doubling of sight.
The formerly prestigious and today neglected GDR era buildings of the sixties and seventies found on the Prager street in Dresden were the starting point for artistic interventions during the “Modern Islands” project.
