Performance at Theater Basel (two excerpts), 1996
Two Percussions, represented by two persons and the corresponding furniture, create rhythms and images in a choreographic sequence. The figures trample and step, bang their heads on the tables, drum with their finger cubes, stand up and sit down.
To produce the sounds they use the floor, tables, stools and each other as resonating bodies. The movements and gestures of the figures determine the rhythm. The spectrum of their movements extends to doing nothing – which, musically speaking, creates a pause and, on the picture plane, a freeze frame.
